There are many causes of chicken wheezing. However, the most common cause is caused by a bacteria called Mycoplasma Galliseptium. When the weather changes suddenly, not fully vaccinated, poor nutrition… Mycoplasma will develop and cause disease.

Accordingly, Mycoplasma only lives for 1-3 days when out of the body. If in mucus, they last longer, about 4-5 days. In egg yolk alone, this bacteria has a life time of up to 18 days.

Some common routes of transmission are:

Infected chickens excrete bacteria into the air. In the same flock, when sharing food and breeding equipment, sick chickens will be a source of infection for healthy ones.

A very dangerous source of infection is infected chicken eggs. When a sick hen lays eggs, there will be soft disease in the eggs, causing the chicks to get sick.

– In case the chicken has recovered from the disease but is still carrying the infection, when conditions permit, Mycoplasma Galliseptium will break out and multiply rapidly, causing the chicken to get sick.
