What causes diarrhea in chickens?

To prevent and treat diarrhea for Chickens, you need to find out the cause of the disease. There are many causes of chicken diarrhea. Among them, we can mention some of the main effects as follows:

Due to animal feed

Feed is one of the main causes of chicken diarrhea. It is easily damaged under the effects of heat, light, moisture and chemicals.

The food or its ingredients may be moldy. Mold toxins such as Mycotoxins directly affect the gut. Since then, it has reduced the integrity of the intestine, causing reduced digestion and poor absorption of nutrients.

In addition, Ochratoxin present in mold can also damage the kidney of Chicken. This is the reason why chickens reduce excretion.

On the other hand, the absorption of minerals (chlorine, potassium, sodium, magnesium) through drinking water and high food also causes diarrhea in chickens. Because right now, Chicken is trying to maintain the balance of electrolytes in the body. So it will drink a lot of water and have diarrhea.

Therefore, you need to regularly check the level of minerals, salt or fat in the food. To ensure that the concentration of minerals and salts is not too high, the fat does not go rancid.

Due to pathogens

Coccidiosis (coccidiosis) is a fairly common disease today. It is directly related to the increase of diarrhea in chickens.

Coccidiosis infection can be caused by infection with live coccidiosis vaccine. Or this pathogen can also be caused by a natural outbreak.

The intestinal epithelium of chickens was damaged, plasma proteins leaked, causing Clostridium perfringens bacilli to proliferate. During this process, a toxin was produced that caused the Chicken to have necrotizing enterocolitis and show signs of diarrhea.

In addition, chicken diarrhea is also caused by the following bacteria: Campylobacter jejuni, Escherichia coli, Coronavirus, Rotavirus....

Due to the living environment

The activity of the animal and the living environment also causes diarrhea in chickens. Your cage has too much manure, dirt and other wastes. But if you do not clean up properly, they will enter pets through the digestive tract by falling into drinking water, food or through inhalation.

On the other hand, sudden changes in temperature and climate are also the causes of chicken diarrhea. Especially on hot days, the chicken's resistance declines due to dehydration and poor digestion.

Therefore, you need to regularly clean the barn, water and food containers for Chickens. To help chickens avoid gastrointestinal diseases such as diarrhea….
